+ Information on the AMD's 890GX and 880G chipsets to come in march the 1st!

Quote:
Only a few days ago rumors surfaced that AMD's 890GX and 880G chipset would debut on March 1 and April 26. Now, word has trickled from Sunnyvale that the company's six-core Thuban processor will be showcased at CeBIT 2010 (March 2 to 6) and corresponding with the aforesaid 880G launch, OCWorkbench claims Thuban will also be released on April 26. Previous speculation suggested Thuban would appear in May.

AMD has kept a tight lid on its new hexa-core processor, so next week's unveiling should be interesting. To recap what we've heard about the chip: it will land in three iterations branded Phenom II X6 1035T, 1055T, and 1075T, all of which are 45nm-based and compatible with AM2+ and AM3 sockets, so they should work with existing motherboards -- though, a BIOS update might be required.

Earlier this month, we also heard that Thuban will have some form of hardware-based dynamic speed boost technology called "C-state performance boost," which would act similarly to the Turbo Boost feature found in some core i5 and core i7 processors.

March is upon us, and we've had to bid goodbye to Summer as we start to dust off all the warm clothes we have to make it through the next several months, or hibernate if you're a bear.

But regardless, here's something to get you fired up about, as there's some big titles being released this week the first week of March 2010.

With under 4 days remaining before submissions to the long-awaited R18+ Discussion paper are closed, lobbyists and supporters alike are encouraging those who are yet to submit their opinion, to do so. A partnership between EB Games and advocacy group Grow Up Australia has seen immense support from the 350 EB Stores brandishing the "Support R18+" posters on their shop walls. With over 60,000 EB customers showing support, 40,000 hand-written signatures, and another 16,000+ on the Grow Up Australia website, the public will be heard; hopefully.

South Australian Attorney General Michael Atkinson stated last month that regardless of the outcome of the discussion paper, which currently has just 1% of all received submissions being against the induction of an R18+ rating, that he won't be changing his opinion on the matter.
